When I took this pad out of the package, I was surprised by the feel of it. I guess I should have known going in that a cotton BLEND wouldn’t have the same soft feel as pure cotton, but I was surprised by just how stiff it felt. Oddly, the waterproof side intended to go towards the mattress was softer than the padded side intended to go facing up. It definitely had a plumper fill to it than some other pads, but I wasn’t looking for that.
It may be that some of the stiffness would have come out after washing, but I decided not to risk it and returned it immediately.

I would not use this unless it had a featherbed on top. I have two other waterproof pads from bloomingdales that are more expensive but much softer.

I wanted a comfortable pad that also protects the mattress. I have found it is comfortable to sleep on and from other reviewers they say it does protect well. The mattress is brand new and I wanted to start with a good mattress pad from the beginning.

My son is almost 2 and was ready for his “big boy” bed. We needed a waterproof pad for his new twin size mattress. I tried 3 different ones before finding this one. The first and second were from Bed, Bath and Beyond and Sleepys. Both felt and smelled like they had a shower curtian shoved in between two pieces of padding. The third was from Pottery Barn Kids. This one was very good (comfortable, not plastic feeling) but was really expensive at $50.00. The fouth was the one listed here. It was just as good if not even a little better then the PB Kids one and was $20 less. You would never know your sleeping on a waterproof pad. It’s been wet by my son twice and has kept the mattress dry as can be. I’ve washed and dried it (on low setting) numerous times and have yet to have any issues. Would recommend this item to anyone looking for a comfortable, afforable and waterproof mattress pad.
